-
🏄♂️ Reading the conditions & take-off
Before going in the water, we go over the conditions together (swell, currents, tides). Then you'll learn the take-off — how to stand up on the board efficiently.
-
🌊 Paddling out & positioning
You'll learn how to paddle through the waves safely (the duck dive and the turtle roll), then how to position yourself in the line-up to wait for and pick the right waves.
-
🌟 Catching waves, direction & manoeuvres
You'll learn to catch waves at the right moment, control your line and — if your level allows — work on your first manoeuvres (bottom turn, cutback…).

The lesson in detail
Six techniques worked on in every lesson
The take-off
A crucial step in any surf lesson, the take-off is the moment you stand up. On a small board or a longboard, this stage deserves real attention. The motion is so fast that it has to become automatic — and you can't afford to learn it wrong.
Paddling out
One of the toughest parts of learning to surf is making it past the breaking waves. To catch waves before they break, you need to reach the line-up by getting through the impact zone. There's the duck dive technique — pushing the board under the wave — and the turtle roll.
Positioning in the line-up
First and foremost: knowing where to sit and how to wait for waves in the right spot. Surfers call it "ocean sense". Reading the waves and the spot — before every lesson — is key to good positioning.
Catching waves
One of the things every surfer wants most: catching waves on your own. Learning to read, paddle, adjust your position and place yourself well. Catching the wave is one of the most important steps — it sets up everything that comes next. "Right time, right place."
Choosing your line
I like to tell my students that surfing is a bit like a martial art. You have to constantly adapt to the way the wave behaves and breaks. Knowing what to do, and when, is essential.
Manoeuvres
For more experienced surfers, we can start working on manoeuvres: bottom turn, roller, snap, cutback, floater, off-the-lip, tube. They're all essential building blocks — they let you make the most of the wave's potential and travel further by linking vertical lines.
